WaterSense certified Pro-S Sprays™ with pressure regulation meet new state mandates
Wednesday, December 15, 2021
Riviera Beach, FL – Certified by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in early 2019, K-Rain® Pro-S Sprays™ with the WaterSense mark are in-market in advance of pressure regulation requirements in several states.
In Massachusetts starting January 1, 2022, spray sprinklers offered for sale must include a pressure regulator that meets the criteria of the EPA WaterSense Specification for Spray Sprinkler Bodies. Washington D.C. will follow shortly after with a start date of March 15, 2022. Additional states of Rhode Island and Maine will become effective in 2023.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), more than 30% of all residential water use is used outdoors, and up to 50 percent of all that outdoor water use is wasted due to inefficient irrigation methods and systems. EPA estimates that roughly 10% of current irrigation systems use sprinkler bodies with internal pressure regulation. Spray sprinkler bodies that meet the WaterSense specification can reduce water use by about 18% on average. WaterSense labeled spray sprinkler bodies with integral pressure regulation can reduce water waste by providing a constant flow at the sprinkler nozzle.
